Today, Penn State Faculty Have Filed For Our Union

December 9, 2025

Dear Penn State Faculty Alliance Members:

Today, we made history and filed thousands of union authorization cards with the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board to take the next step to winning our faculty union, the Penn State Faculty Alliance, SEIU Local 668. After years of organizing and thousands of conversations with fellow faculty members, we are on our way to having a voice at Penn State’s decision-making table.

Faculty organizers will be in Harrisburg today with fellow SEIU 668 members, union allies, and state legislators to announce our filing. Tune in today, Tuesday, December 9, at 1:30 PM to our Penn State Faculty Alliance Facebook page to watch the livestream of our Press Conference.

We are incredibly proud of the work and dedication so many faculty members have put into our union. We have been moved by the stories we’ve heard and conversations we’ve had with faculty at campuses all across the Commonwealth. We are building a faculty union that will represent all faculty members, tenure line and contingent, full-time and part-time, whether you work at UP or the Commonwealth campuses.

Check out this Special Announcement video with PSFA members.

Celebrate with fellow faculty members at University Park with a happy hour TODAY at 4:00 PM at Chumley’s in State College!! We will be planning additional celebrations across Pennsylvania in the coming weeks, so please stay tuned for more information.

If you’re new to the story of PSFA, that’s great! Welcome to your faculty union. If you haven’t already signed your union card, now is a great time to connect with a faculty organizer, get your questions answered, and learn more about how you can help build our faculty union. For more information, see our Dear Colleague Letter from earlier this semester, and check out our PSFA website and social media accounts to hear more from fellow faculty about our union.

How will you get involved in 2026 to win our faculty union election? Fill out this Get Involved Form on the PSFA website.

What’s next on our journey towards a faculty union? We hope Penn State’s Administration will do the right thing, but we also know that it is not uncommon for employers to attempt to slow down this process or use costly, unnecessary tactics. Check out this link to a brief FAQ on the unionization process to learn more.

Don’t miss out on events this semester. Be sure to follow our Penn State Faculty Alliance Facebook page or our Instagram account, and check out our Events Calendar on the PSFA Website!
